City Camp is a joint event of three Mapala in Semarang namely Udinus, USM, and Unisula. City Camp activity was held in Banjir Kanal Barat, Semarang and followed by students of nature lovers.
The theme was the education of emergency response of flood disaster, with the concept of camping and training in the middle of the city. "Aldaka wants to give something different. Usually mapala’s activity is done in mountain or forest, but this time we chose in the middle of the city, "said Wahyu Kurniawan as the chairman of the organizer. The selecting of location in Banjir Kanal is expected to educate Mapala and residents around Banjir Kanal who participated the training. This training is very important to increase the emergency response’s ability during flooding.
The trainers were from Search & Rescue Team (SAR) or SARDA of Central Java. The SARDA provided easy guidance for citizens. The training divided in two activities, namely during disaster and post-disaster rehabilitation. During the first flood disaster, the first thing to do was division of task, including communications, public kitchens, equipment, victim rescue, and victim identification. Post-disaster is usually done by entertaining the victims and helping the disaster victims. City Camp not only provided training for Mapala but also provided musical entertainment from music UKM of Udinus so that these trainees do not feel bored. (* PR)
