Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted another activity to commemorate the Holy Month of Ramadan. The activity involved a sharing activity with five different local orphanages, with a total of 100 orphans, and 93 foster children of the Amil Zakat Agency at Udinus. The event took place at the Baitul Ilmi Mosque located at Udinus on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

The event was entitled ‘Udinus Sharing,’ and it served as a conclusion of a bigger event called Ramadan on Campus, which lasted for a whole month. This Ramadan on Campus event was mainly organized by the Muslim Activity Unit at Udinus.

The Chief of the Muslim Activity Center, Dr. Edy Mulyanto, S.Si., M.Kom.. exclaimed that the event aimed to foster compassion toward each other. In addition, the event also encouraged students to be respectable members of society by caring for the public, especially orphans and marginalized people.

“By sharing our compassion to orphans and marginalized people, we have fulfilled the theme of this event, namely, ‘Finding Beauty Through Sharing in Faith.’ We mainly gave the orphans allowance, and operational funds for the orphanages. Furthermore, we also provide them with groceries, including rice, to further empower them. To conclude the event, we opted for all of them to sit down and have an iftar,” Edy explained.

According to him, the Holy Month of Ramadan was a month of benevolence for students at Udinus to show their social values. In addition to sharing, the event also featured a short religious learning session. The lesson pushed the orphans to believe that in achieving success, nothing is beyond their reach.

“Hopefully, the aids can be utilized properly for the operational aspect of these orphanages, allowing children to fulfill their basic needs. We would also like to hope that these children can achieve success one day,” Edy uttered.

Gratitude for the Aid from Udinus

The aid was symbolically handed from the Muslim Activity Center to the Amil Zakat Agency. There were orphans from five different orphanages in the event, including Darul Khoir Orphanage, Al Ma’hadul Qorona Al Islami Orphanage, Rodlotusy Syifa’ Orphanage and Islamic Board School, Asmaul Husna Orphanage, as well as Yatim Fadhilah Ihsan Orphanage.

One of the representatives from Darul Khoir Orphanage, Zaenal Arifin, expressed his gratitude for the aid given by Udinus. He further hoped for aid and assistance to bring blessings and welfare to every party involved.

“I hereby express my appreciation on behalf of the children of our orphanage. Hopefully, they will be able to garner new experiences by visiting Udinus, as well as getting to know the campus. Hopefully, they will eventually continue their studies to higher education,” he concluded.

Ramadan on Campus 1446 H served as tangible proof that Udinus had a real commitment to implementing human values and social concerns. The event is expected to ensure that Udinus can further benefit the public as an educational institution with concerns for others. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
