\n\tIn an attempt to provide students insight into business and job opportunities in the field of Food and Beverage Products and Services<\/em>, the Department of Hotel Management at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) featured two experts in an event in the form of a public lecture. The lecture was hosted in the theater room on the sixth floor of the I building. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tThe audience, mainly consisted of Hotel Management students, was seen listening to the lecture presented by Kusmaji Hariyanta, the Manager of the Food and Beverages Cluster at The Royal Heritage, Novotel, and Ibis Styles Surakarta<\/i> and Chef Hendro Purwanto, the Head of the Indonesian Chef Association<\/i> of Central Java.  <\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tBoth of those speakers explained in detail what the hospitality industry truly was and essentially gave those students advice. The public lecture was opened directly by the Head of the Hotel Management Program, Dr. Neni Kurniawati, S.S., M.Hum. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tKusmaji Hariyanta explained that every hotel possesses a different department depending on the room size and service offered by the hotel. However, bigger hotels typically have many departments, including Housekeeping<\/em>, Front Office<\/em>, Sales and Marketing<\/em> and Food and Beverage<\/em>. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\u201cThe FnB Department<\/em> holds the role of managing and being in charge of products and other consumption services. Not only does this department serve delicious foods and drinks, but it is also tasked to create unforgettable experiences for customers,\u201d he uttered. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tKusmaji also mentioned several distinctive characteristics possessed by the FnB departments at three-, four- and five-star hotels. The differences lay in the number of staff members, the Operational Procedure Standard, and the price. Nearing the end of his lecture, Kusmaji advised the whole audience regarding the hospitality industry in Indonesia. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\t\u201cOnce you graduate and work in the hospitality industry, you must be disciplined and work professionally. Moreover, you are also obliged to be friendly and polite at work as by doing this you can bring comfort to customers, leaving no bad image,\u201d he uttered.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tDr. Neni Kurniawati, S.S., M.Hum., the Head of the Hotel Management Program, explained that this public lecture aimed to give insight to students, particularly regarding job and business opportunities in the field of Food and Beverages. Furthermore, the students were expected to gather pieces of knowledge and insight about working in the hospitality industry.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\u201cThis public lecture could benefit students before embarking on their careers in the hospitality industry.
