Forty students from many different high schools attended a one-day lecture organized by the Engineering Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) in Semarang on Tuesday, July, 25th 2023. That lecture, \u2018Open House\u2019 took place in several classrooms in the I building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lecture was attended by high schoolers from various regions, two of which were SMKA ABBS Surakarta and SMAN 6 Semarang. They were introduced to a few study programs in the Engineering Faculty, including, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering. The one-day lecture was an annual event with no admission fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zaenal Arifin, S.T., M. Eng, a lecturer, shared that the students would obtain basic college materials at the event. The materials would be explained by lecturers from different study programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will encourage them to take a tour and look around at the laboratories, including, the Digital & Analogue Laboratory., Robotics and Control Laboratory, and Biomedical Laboratory on the second and third floor of the I building.,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lecture aimed to introduce university life to the students, so that they could prepare themselves. Arifin also added that there would be lots of combinations of theories and practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cObviously, the courses will be far more complex than that of high school. By attending many events at university, students will be able to get many opportunities to hone both their soft skills and hard skills,\u201d Arifin added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Heru Agus Santoso, Ph.D., the Dean of the Engineering Faculty, wished for this event to be able to introduce the faculty to the high schoolers. He added that the faculty had been implementing the capstone design<\/em> program to ease the students in finishing their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBy utilizing this program, we granted the students convenience to finish their theses in groups. This convenience is what we are going to showcase to the high schoolers so that they do not put doubts on our faculty,\u201d said the dean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Putriana Dwi Rosari, a student at SMAN 6 Semarang, was glad and interested in attending the lecture. She admittedly claimed that she had learned a lot regarding college life. \u201cI think this event is beneficial and informative, now that I am aware of the study programs in the Engineering Faculty at Udinus,\u201d she uttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other than a one-day lecture, a series of exhibitions was also held alongside the open house in the I building\u2019s courtyard.
