Program Doktor Ilmu Komputer (PDIK) Fakultas Ilmu Komputer (FIK) Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) sukses menyelenggarakan sidang terbuka promosi doktor Wendy Sarasjati pada Rabu (21\/05). Dalam sidang tersebut, dipresentasikan disertasi berjudul Kombinasi Seleksi Fitur Lasso+ dan Random Forest Weighted Bootstrap Sampling untuk Deteksi Phishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event took place in the Meeting Room located on the first floor of the H building at Udinus. The open session was attended by professors, academicians, and Wendy\u2019s family. It was a part of the commitment from the Postgraduate Computer Science Department to produce competent graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
During her presentation, Wendy explained that her research was a response to public restlessness about cybercrimes, particularly phishing. With the rapidly changing digitalization in Indonesia, it has been recorded that there are more than 221 million active internet users in Indonesia. This leaves Indonesia to be more vulnerable to manipulative attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe development of the phishing detective system must be accurate and adaptive to the attack patterns. This is because cybercrimes will always keep evolving, making conventional methods less effective,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, mahasiswi yang kini resmi menyandang gelar doktor itu melakukan penelitian dengan pendekatan baru yang mampu beradaptasi. Ia mengkombinasikan dua metode canggih, yakni seleksi fitur Lasso+ dan algoritma Random Forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI also added the Weighted Bootstrap sampling technique to handle unbalanced data. During the research, I gathered data from various trusted sources, including PhishTank and Mendeley,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Wendy added that the combination of these two methods aimed to filter the most relevant features, allowing the developed model to be more efficient and less prone to overfitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe pros of this method compared to other models is that this method can scope trade-off between performance and speed execution. If we were to see the datasets valuing less than 200,000, the system could detect all of them within five seconds. As for the datasets valued more than 200,000, the system could take more than 18 seconds to detect all of them,\u201d she highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Providing Convenience to the Public<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n
The Head Senate of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, Prof. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., who led the open session, expressed his appreciation to Wendy Sarajati. He stated that the dissertation was a tangible contribution to reducing cybercrime rates in Indonesia. Hopefully, the results of this research will be able to be implemented in various digital security systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUdinus is indeed supportive when it comes to research that responds to problems concerning the digital age, such as this one. We are proud to graduate Wendy Sarasjati, whose work can directly impact the general public,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wendy\u2019s Promotor, Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., also congratulated and praised Wendy for her persistence and motivation during her studies. According to him, Wendy\u2019s success was a product of her consistency in finishing every research step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe development of this phishing detection model is indeed a crucial innovation amidst the danger of cyber threats in Indonesia. With her doctoral degree, Wendy Sarasjati is expected to pour her knowledge to serve as a reference and foundation for the development of future phishing detection systems,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Computer Science Faculty at Udinus, Sri Winarno, M.Kom., Ph.D., was also proud of Wendy\u2019s accomplishments. Sri also mentioned that Wendy\u2019s success was a reflection of the quality and research developed by the Computer Science Faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
