After a long holiday of Eid al-Fitr, Blood Transfusion Unit of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Semarang got limited blood stock. It happened because the decreasing number of donors during Ramadan. Because of that phenomenon, Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) cooperated with PMI Semarang looking for blood donation on the first day of school on students who took final examination (UAS).
During Ramadhan, many donors refused to donate their blood for various reasons and that resulted the decreasing of blood stock at PMI Semarang City. On the other side, the demand of blood bags was increasing at that time. PMI visited Universities in Semarang and provided buses on some spots for donors to fulfill the demand of blood stocks.
On Monday 10th of July, PMI assisted by Student Activity Unit (UKM) Korp Sukarela (KSR) Udinus held blood donation event on campus. Blood donation were held at DKV Gallery on the first floor of H building. "Every year, Udinus regularly held blood donation activities that are usually initiated by KSR, but this year it is initiated by Udinus Rector because blood stocks at PMI are limited," explained Sarju S.Kom, MM Head of Udinus Public Bureau.
The target of this event was 70 blood bags, blood donation conducted since 09:00 to 12:00. "This achievement is good, considering today is the first day of school for students," Sarju added. This blood donation event was attended by Udinus students, staff and lecturers.
