BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING UDINUS IMPROVES THE PRACTICAL EQUIPMENT WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY

Technological developments are increasing rapidly through all aspects including health. Last Tuesday, 19th of September 2017, The Study Program of Biomedical Engineering of The Faculty of Engineering (FT) Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) held a workshop about the function of medical equipment by PT. Tridaya Setia Manunggal in the meeting room of B building on the first Floor, Udinus. The speaker of this brief workshop was Tugino ST., MT, a training instructor and Sivakumar benchmark PT. Tridaya Setia Manunggal from India.
 
The workshop was attended by about 50 lecturers, labors and students of Biomedical Engineering 2016. This event was a further action of the purchase of medical equipment by The Faculty of Engineering Udinus some time ago. "Although it is considered as a new study program here, Udinus Biomedical Engineering shows its seriousness in providing supportive facilities for study to the students". Says Dr.-Ing. Vincent Suhartono as The Chairman of The Study Program of Biomedical Engineering. Naili Asmara, one of the students who attended the workshop said that she just heard a lot of new terms in the workshop. "It used to be a theory, but now we can see the real equipment. There are a lot of new terms of the technology such as the ECG, EEG, PPG and EOG which mentioned by the instructor". Said Naili after the workshop.
 
There were two basic materials given in the workshop which was Biomedical Engineering that delivered by instructor Tugino and Internet Of Thing (IOT) with deeper understanding of wireless sensor network that delivered by Sivakumar. There are several technologies used to record human body health such as electrocardiogram (ECG) medical techniques to detect lungs disorder by measuring electrical activity produced by lung and electroencephalography (EEG) is a technique to record electrical activity on the scalp area such as voltage fluctuations generated by ion. There were other technologies such as the Electronystagmography (ENG) a technology that measures the speed of eyes movement, the Electrooculogram (EOG) a technique to measure the potential of the retinal-cornea, and the Photoplethysmogram (PPG) a technique that measures changes in the absorption of light on the skin. "The technology has its own roles in recording human health electronically, later on, the results will be delivered by doctors to diagnose the diseases suffered by patients" said Vincent.
