UDINUS SUCCESSFULLY HELD ISEMANTIC 2017
Hundreds of participants came to the new hall of the 7th floor of H building Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) Semarang for International Seminar on Application for Technology of Information and Communication (iSemantic) 2017. On Saturday 7th of October 2017, lots of researchers from various fields involved in exciting discussion of the latest technological discoveries.
iSemantic is an annual event organized by Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) collaborate with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). In this international seminar, iSemantic invited 4 keynote speakers.
The first session of the conference was filled by Susi Pudjiastuti, The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia who was represented by Dr. Ifan Ridho Suhelmi as The Head of Research and Technology of Marine and it was also filled by Prof. Kunio Kondo from Tokyo University of Technology. The session was hosted by Dr. Drs. Jumanto M.Pd. as the moderator. In the first session, Ifan described the use of the technology in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) such as the Automatic Identification System (AIS), it is a radar to monitor ships that sailing with official permission in Indonesian sea. "We can also predict the type of fish and the number of ocean species using sin radar, unfortunately most of our technology is still dependent on foreign parties" Ifan explained. He expected Indonesia to be independent, not only independent in marine management but also independent in the use of technology. While in the other side, Kondo reviewed about animation cartoon making technology. As we know that Japan is a rich country of animation industry. "In Japan there are a lot of robot films and books about making 3D robots" Kondo explained. The second session of the conference was hosted by Hector Sanchez Lopez Ph.D and filled by Professor. Dr. Eng. Benyamin Kusumoputro, M.Eng. from University of Indonesia and Prof. Hidenao Fukuyama, M.D., Ph.D. from Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine.
It was noted that there were 60 papers that have been submitted to be reviewed by 3 reviewers. "As we know that lecturers are obliged to conduct research. With this iSemantic I hope that all the research that have been submitted can be published "said Prof. Dr. Ir Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom as Udinus Rector in his opening speech. The theme of iSemantic was "Empowering Technology for a Better Human Life" which conclude several fields such as Engineering, Economics, Health and Culture. (* PR / Mey)
