UDINUS INTRODUCES BEBRAS TO TEACHERS IN SEMARANG CITY
About 130 teachers of public schools in Semarang City, from elementary school until senior high school gathered at the hall of H Building on the 7th floor of Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) on Thursday 12th of October. The 130 teachers came to join the workshop of computational thinking organized by Udinus which cooperate with Semarang Government and Undip.
Udinus through the Faculty of Computer Science (FIK) started this community service, by socializing computational thinking to students from elementary to high school. "We cooperate with BEBRAS, an international organization committed to support computational thinking, "said Affandy, PhD, a lecturer at FIK Udinus and also a volunteer of Bebras.
Computational thinking is a method of problem solving by applying computer science techniques (informatics). "This method will be very useful for teachers from elementary until senior high school, so that students are not only learn about computer, but also solve problems using computer, "added Affandy.
Besides Affandy, there are also some FIK lecturers who become the pioneer of computational thinking. Some of them are Ayu Pertiwi, S.Kom, MT and Nisa'ul Hafidhoh, MT. This lecturers become Bebras volunteers who mentoring the teachers, contributing in making tasks, updating info, and also held online Bebras competition.
The theme of the event was “Introducing Computational Thinking Is the Main Capital of Master Informatics to Build Indonesia.” Besides received a material, the teachers also got online training so that later on, they could apply it when they are teaching.
