UDINUS’ TAEKWONDO GOT A LOT OF MEDALS IN UGMTC 2017
After successfully won as the 1st winner on the basketball competition for both male and female category and also won as the second runner up on badminton competition, Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) through its students managed to dominate UGM Taekwondo Championship (UGMTC) 2017.
This championship was open for public and it had several categories, such as pre cadet, cadet, juniors, and seniors (college students). Udinus through Taekwondo Student Activity Unit (UKM) sent 6 athletes and all of them successfully got medals. They were Muchamad Aprilian Salas, he got gold medal in Under 63 kg male senior Kyourugi category, Doni Octavian got gold medal in Under 87 kg male senior Kyourugi category, Leonardo Redhiarto got bronze medal in Under 54 kg category male senior Kyourugi category, Wahyu Agung Rahmanto got bronze medal in Under 58 kg male senior Kyourugi category, Eko Septyasari got bronze medal in Under 62 kg female senior Kyourugi category, and Sunu Agung Pamungkas got bronze medal in male single Pomsae category. "We are proud of 6 athletes who won at UGMTC 2017. It was not useless that we exercised since in the beginning of October, "said Leonardo Redhiarto, athlete and Chairman of UKM Taekwondo Udinus.
Hundreds of participants in this championship, and UKM Taekwondo must beat the contingents or clubs from various universities such as from Semarang, Yogyakarta, Cibinong, Cirebon, Malang, and also Surabaya. "This championship also measures the opponent's ability, and we can make it as lesson for the next championship," added Leo.
Currently Udinus continues to strengthen the quality of its students to be excel on both academic and non-academic. Both of the aspects will receive scholarship rewards. "Of course with the consequences, they should have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3, so it would be balance between the academic and non-academic," said Agus Triyono, M.
