PAPUA ICT BOARD TAKE FURTHER ACTION REGARDING TO THE SCHOLARSHIP FROM UDINUS TO PAPUA CHILDREN
The Chairman of Information and Communication Technology Board of Papua Province (DETIKDA) visited Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) Semarang on Wednesday 20th of December 2017. The visitation was to check the educational scholarship from Udinus to children of Papua.
Udinus Rector initiated scholarships for Papua in the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) Association of Higher Education of Computer Science (APTIKOM) in Jayapurapada last November. "Starting from the Rakornas Aptikom in Papua some time ago, we see the condition of people in Papua directly, they need an education. Then we had an idea, what if the members of Aptikom provides scholarships for Papua "said Prof. Dr. Ir Edi Noersasongko M.Kom after the meeting which held in the conference room on the 1st floor of G Building, Rectorate.
Udinus participated in providing scholarships along with the 13 other universities such as Raharja University, Stikom Bali, Undip, STT Nusa Putra Sukabumi, BSI Group, Gunadarma University, STMIK Mataram, STIMIK Bina Insani, STIMIK Mikroskill Medan, STIKI Malang, Darmajaya University Lampung, and SMIK Atmaluhut Pangkalpinang. There were 10 undergraduate scholarships and 5 post graduate degree scholarships provided by Udinus. "If each member of Aptikom gives scholarships, Papua will soon be able to catch up" added Edi.
Dominicus RES Carvallo, SE, MM, The Chairman of Information and Communication Technology Board of Papua Province (DETIKDA), said that within one week the ICT Board of Papua Province travels on Java Island. "We start from Malang, Semarang, then to Sukabumi and also Jakarta" he explained. They visited Universities which stated that they are willing to participate in providing scholarship for undergraduate degree and post graduate degree in Rakornas Aptikom 2017.
"We really appreciate the owners or the leaders of universities who are willing to accommodate the best sons and daughters of Papua to continue their education" said Dominicus. The scholarship aimed to increase human resources in the field of ICT, so that after the graduation, the sons and daughters of Papua together can build their province in the eastern tip of Indonesia. There will be special standards in the recruitment of prospective students. Papua Province ICT Board entrusts entirely central Aptikom and Papua Governor regarding to the recruitment of prospective students.
In Udinus, prospective students from Papua are free to choose the study program, not necessarily related to ICT. During this time, there are 4 to 5 students from the Papua each year study at Udinus. (* PR / mey)
