THE OPTIMALIZATION OF GASURKES’ ROLE IN PREVENTING TUBERCULOSIS IN SEMARANG

Various cooperation between Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) and other institutions should be well developed in order to be useful for the community. One of the cooperation made by UDINUS is the cooperation between Faculty of Health and Public Health Service of Semarang City to overcome Tuberculosis.

Besides the information about tuberculosis that is updated continuously, various training and field activities are also conducted. One of the training was conducted on Monday, February 2nd 2018. 36 health surveillance officers (gasurkes) gathered in UDINUS Computer Laboratory on the 2nd floor of D building. The training was about case finding, the media of information communication and education, and Geographic Information System (GIS). This training was to increase the ability and skill of gasurkes in utilizing information technology, especially in the prevention of tuberculosis case in Semarang.

The training was a community service activity held by UDINUS’ Faculty of Health to help the prevention of tuberculosis in Semarang. Based on a survey conducted by Public Health Service of Semarang, 84% people come to the doctor, clinic, and public health service places to deal with health problems. Because of that, the training is needed for gasurkes who aware of technology. Besides the training that was conducted by Faculty of Health Udinus, recently, Tuberculosis Control Meeting was also conducted at Pedurungan Community Health Center, Semarang. (* PR / ning)
