UDINUS’ E-GAMELAN AT THE MEETING OF JAVANESE CULTURE
On Monday, April 9th, 2018, more than 200 audiences were amazed by the performence of Electronic Gamelan (E-Gamelan) of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS). The outstanding performance was shown at Sarasehan Budaya Jawa Selasa Kliwonan event on the 7th floor of H building, UDINUS.
The event was held as the implementation of the law number 5/2017 about culture as a tool to develop Javanese culture. The event was attended by various ranks of local government, UDINUS’ Vice Rector I, Prof.Dr. Supriyadi Rustad M.Si, and Prof.Dr. Sutarno DEA as the speaker of the event.
In Indonesia, especially in Java Island, gamelan become very special because it has been a heritage of Jogjakarta and Surakarta Kingdom for more than a thousand years, but in the modern era, gamelan began to fade among the younger generation and government apparatus. "Back to the Javanese identity by learning from the masterpieces of the noble Javanese art, UDINUS' E-Gamelan performance is a proof that Javanese cultural heritage can also be preserved by combining it with technological elements, "said Dr. Sri Puryono who attended the event, represented the Central Java Governor's Plt.
Meanwhile, Prof.Dr. Sutarno DEA as the speaker of the event explained that Javanese culture has an idea, value, beliefs and also implicit and explicit attitudes that always be the guidance and of Javanese community. "The value of leadership is also embedded in Javanese culture, contained in the letter of Rama Yasadipura II with the concept of Astra Brata which should be a guidance for the young generation in the present era," he explained.
According to Sutarno, UDINUS has implemented the values of Javanese culture and preserved the originality of Javanese art that fading by the time. E-Gamelan that created by UDINUS gave a new spirit for Javanese arts and other arts. "UDINUS' innovation is very good and it is a breakthrough for young generation to love the Javanese culture once again. Hoping that with the re-uphold of the values of Javanese culture can create the harmony of life, "he said.
UDINUS’ Vice Rector I of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Supriyadi Rustad, M.Si said that E-Gamelanku have perform everywhere inside and outside the country. "Later on in June, we will perform at UNESCO and UDINUS’ dream will be come true. Javanese arts will get an incredible appreciation from the world, "he said.
The Head of UDINUS Public Relation, Agus Triyono, S. Sos, M. Si mentioned that this event could create a synergy between the government and universities in preserving Javanese culture. "This is a concrete step of UDINUS to preserve the culture that began to be abandoned. UDINUS will also continue to preserve the culture of Indonesia by applying elements of technology on it," he concluded. (* PR / Alex)
