History

From a Computer Course Institution to a Technology-Based University

Universitas Dian Nuswantoro began as the IMKA computer course institute in Semarang and grew into a leading technology-based university. True to its motto 'Dumununging Ingsun Angrakso Nagoro', UDINUS continues to take part in building the nation.

  1. 1986

    The IMKA computer course institute was founded in Semarang, later growing and expanding to major cities across Java.

  2. 1989

    IMKA was appointed Head of the Computer Sub-consortium, supervisor and examiner of the National Computer Education Examination.

  3. 1990

    The Dian Nuswantoro Foundation was established and ran AMIK Dian Nuswantoro under Minister of Education Decree No. 0686/O/1990, with 54 students in its inaugural class.

  4. 1993

    IMKA earned accreditation from NCC (The National Computing Centre) London, with the authority to teach and issue international certificates.

  5. 1994

    AMIK Dian Nuswantoro officially became STMIK Dian Nuswantoro (College of Informatics Management and Computer Science) under Minister of Education Decree No. 10/D/O/1994.

  6. 1999

    The Dian Nuswantoro Foundation founded STIE Dian Nuswantoro with Management, Accounting, and Taxation study programs.

  7. 2000

    STBA Dian Nuswantoro and STKES Lintang Nuswantoro were founded, expanding the disciplines to foreign languages and health.

  8. 2001

    STMIK, STIE, STBA, and STKES merged into Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) with 5 faculties, under Minister of National Education Decree No. 169/D/O/2001 dated 30 August 2001.

  9. 2002

    UDINUS opened the Industrial Engineering study program and the Master of Computer Science graduate program.

Lambang Universitas Dian Nuswantoro

The emblem of Dian Nuswantoro University reflects the spirit of enlightenment through science and technology for the nation.

The glowing lamp (Dian) symbolizes a light in the darkness — knowledge that illuminates human life. Nuswantoro refers to the Nusantara archipelago, so Dian Nuswantoro means a light for the archipelago through education.

The blue color symbolizes depth of knowledge, calmness, and trust, while the golden yellow color symbolizes glory, enthusiasm, and optimism in reaching the future.

The emblem as a whole represents UDINUS's commitment to educating the nation in accordance with the motto 'Dumununging Ingsun Angrakso Nagoro' — my existence is to protect the nation.
