The Film and Television Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again lured young talented filmmakers through a film screening entitled Scene 1: First Look “Wrap!” The films screened at the screening were products of talented students in the Film and Television Department at Udinus as their final projects.
There were three movies premiered at the screening, including MCK directed by Iqbal Farhan, Cangkang Telur directed by Mayang Sari, and Bait Terakhir directed by Krisna Bayu. Those three films were screened in the auditorium on the seventh floor of the H building at Udinus. In addition to the movie screening, an exhibition also took place in several classrooms in the building.
During the opening speech, Dr. Ruri Suko Basuki, M.Kom., the Head of the Film and Television Department at Udinus, explained that the film screening and exhibition mainly consisted of works created by students of the 2018 class. Furthermore, he added that the Film and Television Department’s curriculum was designed thematically, which means that filmmaking starts with storyboard writing and ends with screening. The fact that the whole auditorium was full of audience shows that the films were comparable to other high-quality short movies.
“From storytelling, cinematography, and other standpoints, students have showcased their amazing talents. This means students have implemented the knowledge they learned properly,” he explained.
He hoped for these films to see an improvement. This movie screening also served as a reference for other students to prepare their final projects.
“Hopefully, the next year’s screening will improve in various aspects, especially audience, with a diverse selection of films,” he hoped.
Mahsa Livoni, the programmer at the screening, hoped for the film screening to be held more often. According to Mahsa, the screening functioned as a platform for students to showcase their final projects, as well as to motivate other students working on their final projects.
“I hereby show my gratitude to all Film and Television students for showcasing their works. Hopefully, this screening and exhibition will be able to motivate them to produce better films in the future,” Mahsa concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
