Aditya Tri Syahria, an Undergraduate Communication Science student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), managed to gather two medals as a wall-climber athlete at the 2022 Thailand University Games. Those medals were gold and silver, which would induce pride within the contingent he represented, in this case, Indonesia.
The gold medal was garnered in the men’s relay team category, while the silver medal was earned in the men’s single category. At the 20th ASEAN University Games (AUG), which took place in Ubon Ratchathani, Aditya was able to claim victories over athletes from other Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand and Malaysia. The 2022 AUG lasts from July 24th to August 7th, 2022. These two medals led the Indonesian contingent to have 87 medals in its possession as of August 3rd, 2022.
During his interview, Aditya Tri Syahria expressed his joy for being able to earn medals for the Indonesian contingent, which in turn would also make a name for Udinus on the international level. Aditya revealed that he had been fully prepared to compete at the 2022 AUG.
“I have prepared myself for roughly two whole months for this moment. Speaking of target, I do have one but it will come as a surprise for me. Furthermore, I usually train routinely to deliver performance in every competition I participate in,” he explained.
He also advised other athletes from Udinus, particularly wall climbers, to keep fighting and upholding what they fought for. This is because the awareness of these athletes’ motivations is among the most meaningful thing.
“Every athlete must know that everything coming to us is the result of divine intervention and we mustn’t forget this. In my honest opinion, wins and losses are parts of every athlete’s personal journey,” he revealed.
Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, expressed her pride in the accomplishments attained by Aditya at the 2024 AUG, which was an international event. Udinus will always give successful athletes stimuli, in the form of scholarships for their efforts in making the campus proud at academic or non-academic events on the national or international levels.
“We routinely give these accomplished athletes appreciation in the form of scholarships. In addition, we will always facilitate these talented athletes to further motivate them in attaining accomplishments,” she concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
