Committed to developing the Gamelan Metaverse, the Animation Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted a group discussion with experts.
The discussion featured three experts from the Computer Center at the Education and Culture Service of Central Java. Those experts were Heru Kusumo (an expert in Metaverse technology), Imam Fajari (an expert in 3D reconstruction and modeling), and Agoeng Irawan (an expert in game design). Moreover, Dr. Widodo, M.Sn (an expert in gamelan) was also present at the discussion. The event took place in the computer lab located on the second floor of the D building at Udinus, with Dr. Khafiizh Hastuti, M.Kom., (the Head of the Animation Department) opening the entire event. On that occasion, Dr. Khafiizh also highlighted the development of the Gamelan Metaverse, which would later be further refined and developed.
Dr. Khafiizh stated that this group discussion was a part of research funded by the government through the Kedaireka Matching Fund Program. The discussion was crucial as it served as a way for the campus to improve the quality of its research concerning the Gamelan Metaverse.
“We have received feedback from various parties, and this feedback would later be our reference to improve our research,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Heru Kusumo gave an appreciation to this research conducted by Udinus. According to him, this research on the Gamelan Metaverse could function as a brand-new step in giving a breath of fresh air to art enthusiasts within Central Java. Furthermore, this research would not only allow Indonesians to learn the art of gamelan but also people from around the world.
“Hopefully, this research can be further refined and perfected. In addition to preserving our cultural heritage, this research will also be a way for foreigners to get familiar with our cultures as well,” he concluded.
