The Research and Community Service Agency (LPPM) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) tied a collaboration with the Research, Technology, and Community Service Directorate of the Ministry of Education to host a training program.
The program was attended by 100 participants from various universities, with Kapas Ballroom Hotel Aruss Semarang being the venue of it. On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., (the Chancellor of Udinus) and Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syuaib M. Agro., IPU., (the Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service) were also present to give an opening speech before the participants. The program lasted from October 27th to 29th, 2022, with knowledge concerning invention patentability and patent writing being taught at the program.
During his interview, Dr. Eng. Yuliman Purwanto, M.Eng., (the Director of the LPPM at Udinus) explained that this training program served as a way to enhance the competence capacity of human resources, particularly faculty members and researchers of various universities in Indonesia in the field of patenting. Before this training program, all participants were also taught the methods of writing a document of the patent specification.
“Through this program, they were also obliged to practice writing a patent description, with the help of an instructor obviously. Furthermore, we expect the participants to publish new patents,” he explained.
Meanwhile. Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom.,. (the Chancellor of Udinus) hoped for this program to push the participants to publish new patents. Moreover, he revealed that it was expected for participants to not only understand the HAKI patent but also widen their mindset by spearheading businesses and gaining benefits from there.
“Additionally, from patents, we can produce journals and conduct community services. Thus far, Udinus keeps pushing its faculty members to publish beneficial patents for the general public,” the chancellor revealed.
At the training program, participants with the best patents were awarded by the Ministry of Education. Asking many questions to the speakers, the participants were seen enthusiastically attending the event.
Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syuaib., M. Agro., IPU., (the Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service) hoped for this program to be beneficial for the participants. According to him, the knowledge taught in the program would serve a higher purpose both for faculty members and researchers.
