Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) was successfully chosen as the host of the Taekwondo branch of the 2022 Regional Student’s Sports Week of Central Java. The event was participated by 114 athletes from 29 different universities in Central Java.
The Sports Week was hosted at Udinus Sports Center at Pamularsih St. No. 42, Salamanmloyo, West Semarang Sub-district, Semarang, Central Java. During the opening ceremony, Taekwondo Sports Week was opened Drs. Handojo Djoko Waloejo, M.Si., (the Head Instructor of Student Sports Agency (Bapomi)) of Central Java by sounding a gong instrument. The opening ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Kusni Ingsih, MM., (the Vice Chancellor III of Academic Affairs at Udinus).
Dr. Kusni Ingsih, MM., expressed her joy for Sports Week being able to run well. According to her, it is an honor for the campus to be directly trusted by the Bapomi to host the Taekwondo Sports Week. She further revealed that the Taekwondo branch was the newest branch among others in the Regional Sports Week.
“Sportivitas tetap dijunjung tinggi dan menang kalah merupakan hal yang wajar, karena para atlet yang berlaga pada ajang Taekwondo ini merupakan atlet yang hebat. Para atlet yang nantinya mewakili Jateng di Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Nasional (Pomnas) di Padang terus berjuang dan berikan yang terbaik,” Ujar Wakil Rektor III Bidang Kemahasiswaan Udinus.
Meanwhile, Drs. Handojo Djoko Waloejo, M.Si., stated that the Regional Sports Week aimed to act as a way to choose athletes for the upcoming National Sports Week. At the 2019 National Sports Week, the Central Java contingent managed to secure fourth place, and will hopefully get a better place this year.
“Para mahasiswa yang berlaga di Pomprov Jateng sukses di non akademik tetapi harus sukses juga di akademiknya. Tetaplah junjung sportivitas dalam seluruh ajang yang kalian ikuti,” tutupnya.
There was a student from Udinus who successfully grasped the gold medal. He was Fahad Abdurrahman Sasongko, the winner of the Men’s Kyorugi U-68Kg category.
At the Taekwondo Sports Week, a total of three students from Udinus also managed to garner silver medals. Those students were Muhammad Fernanda Izza (a Communication Science student) in the Men’s Kyorugi U-58Kg category, Devi Ade Nirmala Sari (a Public Health student) in the Women’s Kyorugi U-46Kg category, and Dwita Isriyan Kusumawati (a Management student) in the Women’s U-73Kg category.
Eventually, all eight athletes who earned the gold medals from various categories will represent the Central Java contingent at the 2022 National Sports Week XVII.
