Having always been moving forward to explore her inner self, Haliza Permata Gustariani was successfully appointed as a manager in an E-sports team at Udinus. Haliza, an Undergraduate Visual Communication Design student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), had triumphantly brought the ‘Udinus Maeda’ team to third place at the Valorant Techno Fest 4.0 event.

Haliza had been interested in gaming since her childhood years. In 2020, she began to grow an interest in a video game known as Valorant. Upon continuing her study at Udinus, she decided to join an E-sport community at Udinus. Haliza stated that her skill in playing mobile games improved ever since she joined the community. On top of that, Haliza also added that parental support impacted her the most in developing her E-sport skill.

“My friend once introduced me to Valorant. Initially, I didn’t quite find it intriguing. However, the curiosity inside me grew as I watched my friends playing the game and eventually, I tried it myself,” she shared with her smiling face.

Not long after she joined the community, she was elected as the manager of the ‘Udinus Maeda team by her friends. She got many priceless experiences as an E-sport team manager such as attending a discussion with national e-sport team managers and learning how to improve the team’s solidarity.

“There are lots of things I learned as a team manager. I also gained many relations with many regional and national teams,” she stated.   

Being a manager requires good communication skills since a manager must listen to the players’ opinions and handle internal problems within the team. Not only that, a manager also serves as a gateway for the players to interact with the team executives. According to Haliza, an E-sport team manager ought to be professional and not take a side in order to keep the team’s harmony.
