Taekwondo is a traditional martial art that originated in Korea. In modern times, Taekwondo is fond by many people including women. Redinda Nur Masyitoh Bisri (22), a Management Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, is among those women.

Redinda revealed that taekwondo had always been impactful in her life. Ever since she pursued this passion in high school, Redinda has learned how to manage time, strengthen her physical durability, and live healthily. According to her, this martial art also taught her defense and offense techniques to evade attacks. “I have received many benefits including a healthy and strong physique,” Redinda revealed.

Redinda, currently the chief of the taekwondo student unit, shared that she had been through countless hardships in adapting to her training schedule during the COVID-19 pandemic. She claimed that she once struggled to follow the new committee’s procedure; hence, it was difficult for her to choose the proper online training schedule. Nonetheless, all these obstacles did not extinguish Redinda’s passion for taekwondo. She added that she could not afford to skip training during pandemics.

Redinda has grasped her hands on many medals at various sports events including a gold medal in the beginner class at the Ganesha National Taekwondo Championship in Ponorogo, a silver medal in the 2019 POM Rayon I LLDIKTI, and she also once participated at an International Sports Event in Bali. She said that she would not be able to achieve all these triumphant accomplishments if it were not for the campus support. According to her, the facilities at Udinus helped push her to keep training and earning more accomplishments.

These achievements possessed by Redinda are integrated with her time allocation between her training and campus activities. Despite not being easy to do, managing her training time properly is among the keys to keeping active in campus activities. “Although I have encountered obstacles in allocating my time, I will always spare some time to train. I do not mind being late if I can manage my training, campus, and resting time wisely.”

Not only is Redinda active in the Taekwondo student unit, but she is also active in various off-campus events. She mainly engages at those events as a volunteer to hone her soft skills by socializing and meeting many people. “On top of pursuing my passion for Taekwondo, I also have the urge to hone my soft skills such as public speaking. Thus, I will be prepared by the time I enter the industry,” she uttered.

For the years to come, Redinda aims to bring the campus image to the international level. “Hopefully, the taekwondo student unit could induce pride in the general public,” Redinda hoped. (Humas Udinus/Nuvia. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
