In an attempt to enliven the fasting month of Ramadan 1444H, activists from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) held a food giveaway for road users in Semarang.

The giveaway mainly took place at the Imam Bonjol St., and several other regions in Semarang, using ‘Social Service presented by Activists from Udinus’ as its theme. Additionally, it was conducted directly under the supervision of Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs.

Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus, explained that the giveaway served as a way to instill the ‘sharing is caring’ mindset within students.

Furthermore, the food giveaway has also been an annual agenda conducted by the campus during the fasting month of Ramadan. Previously, the campus donated five tons of rice to the locals.

“We mainly gave the food to the road users passing by Imam Bonjol St. Through this activity, we could teach our students what it means to be caring,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., hoped that the social service could benefit the locals and road users. The social service was conducted to enhance the soft skills possessed by students. Thus, they could not only gain experience from classes but also from the locals.

“Through the ‘Social Service presented by Activists from Udinus’ theme, the social service in the form of a food giveaway could give a proper example for our students to care for their surroundings. Hopefully, this activity could help and benefit both the locals and road users,” she uttered.

During the fasting month of Ramadan 1444H, the campus has also given various help both to students and locals by providing 2000 free food daily at the two mosques on campus. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. Bima)
