‘A farmer shall get what he sowed’, Ahmad Riziq, An Undergraduate Management Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), clung to that principle allowing him to get his hands on the gold medal in the 2022 Youth Chess Championship.

Ahmad has been familiar with chess since his elementary years. He was introduced to chess by none other than his father.

“Initially, I only watched my father playing chess with his friends and as time flows, I became fond of it. Additionally, my father also taught me many chess strategies,” Ahmad explained.

Ahmad has faced many tough opponents ranging from amateurs to national athletes. Throughout his career as a chess athlete, Adi Sagita from Universitas Islam Negeri Purwokerto was among his most impressive rivals. During his match against Adi, Ahmad felt tense and uneasy.

“He was a tough rival, but with my increasing confidence, I managed to win against him. That was truly a memorable match as I faced a national-level athlete,” Ahmad revealed.

Ahmad, born on June 24th, 2004 in Tangerang, claimed that chess was an amusing and beneficial sports branch. He explained that playing chess allowed him to improve his memory and focus. Ahmad also wished to achieve even more accomplishments in the following years

“I have approximately 2049 of rating in chess for now. Hopefully, I will be able to reach my target namely to make it to the international level. Upon achieving the target, I shall gain a reputation both for Indonesia and particularly for Udinus in the International Chess Community,” he concluded.
