The Biomedical Student Association at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) encouraged high school students to enhance their critical thinking skills concerning medical technology. This particular activity was packaged in the form of the Debate Competition Biomedical Engineering (D’Combe) hosted in the auditorium on the seventh floor of the H building. It took place on Thursday, January 19th, 2023.
The event employed the theme ‘Innovation and Medical Technology Development in the Digital Era.’ D’Combe was an event participated by several teams consisting of three members each. It was competed by dozens of teams echoing immense enthusiasm through their intense debate.
Rivaldo Ariobimo Harjanto, the Head of the Biomedical Student Association, explained that there were several stages in the event. Those stages were the preliminary, semifinal, and final stages. In each stage, every team was obliged to engage in two sessions, namely, the argumentation spanning for 18 minutes and the conclusive session lasting for a minute and a half.
“At this competition, every judge assesses their fluency in conveying their ideas and understanding of their topics. In addition, their attitudes and the debate content were also parts of the assessment as well,” he explained.
The 2023 D’Combe was part of a bigger event hosted by Udinus, namely, the Dinus Festival (Dinusfest). At the competition, every team would strive their way to achieve three different trophies and the Best Speaker title. The winner would also be rewarded with certificate, trophies, and funds.
“Hopefully, this competition can provide a platform for high school students to understand more concerning medical technology, which is constantly developing in the digital era,” Rivaldo hoped.
Dinusfest is an annual festival hosted by Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). It features many kinds of competitions. This year, the series of competitions is primarily hosted offline. At the closing ceremony, a guest star from Jakarta will also be featured on January 29th, 2023. (Wtdn/Ika. Foto: Dok. HMTB)
