The E-sports Community at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) held the 2023 Dinus E-Sports Championship, involving high school students from across the nation. More than 72 teams participated in three different categories at the competition, including Valorant, Mobile Legends, and Free Fire.

The competition was primarily held online, with 445 people grouped into 89 teams participating in each of those three categories. They were seen competing to claim the grand prize of a million rupiah and scholarships. Those teams came from many different high schools scattered around Indonesia. Two of which were SMAN 1 Tanjung Bintang and SMKN 2 Kendal.

Andre Geovanno Tan, the head of the committee, explained that this competition was held as a platform for high school students to showcase their gaming talents. In addition, it also facilitated students to develop their latent potential and talents, allowing them to spearhead the development of E-Sports in Indonesia.

“We would like to push our participants to hold their sense of sportsmanship. Also, we saw that the whole flock did spark an immense amount of enthusiasm, especially in the Mobile Legends category, which surpassed our target by a mile,” Andre uttered.

Andre further revealed that the 2023 Dinus E-Sports Championship was infinitely more phenomenal and crowdy compared to previous years. This is because they added another two categories, instead only featuring one category.

“In terms of participants, we got even more companies from various regions compared to last year. For this reason, we would like to award the winners with better rewards,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Students Affairs, hoped for this event to garner more young talented athletes, so that they could eventually reinforce Udinus, the Central Java Contingent, and Indonesia. According to the data, the participants came from many different grade, middle, and high schools across the nation, as well as the general public.

“With these young talents, we would like to present them scholarships if they could be accomplished both on national and international levels,” she concluded.

In addition to sports, the 2023 Dinusfest was enlivened by other kinds of competitions, including arts and scientific papers. With more than 63 contest categories, the 2023 Dinusfest was participated by 5124 students.
