Culture is an important identity for a nation. In order to conserve Indonesian Culture, the Student’s Council of the Faculty of Computer Science, also known as Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komputer (BEM FIK), University of Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) held an event named ‘Fikrania’ on 25th of June 2023.

Fikrania itself is derived from ‘Fakultas Ilmu Komputer Berkreasi Karya Seni dan Budaya’, which means that the students of the Faculty of Computer Science dare to create art and culture, which is in tune with the theme of the event namely “Ngreksa Budaya”, In English, it means ‘conserving culture’.

The head of the Fikrania event 2023, Mochammad Divka mentioned that this event is one of the forms of contributions to the nation in conserving culture. “Considering these days, many youths are not familiar with their own culture,” he said.

He revealed that this year is the first year of Fikrania being held by BEM FIK. Even though this is the first year, Fikrania had got 160 participants coming from students, college students, and the general public to participate in various competitions. Three of those competitions are custom dance from Central Java, photography, and singing competition.

“There are 10 teams participating in a custom dance competition, and 64 participants in a photography competition, one of the rules is that the participants are only allowed to take photos at designated places. Meanwhile, there are 20 participants in the singing competition,” he explained.

The theme of all those three competitions is ‘ngreksa budaya’, the same as the event’s theme. “With these competitions, the participants have the means to express their talents, while at the same time keep preserving Indonesian culture,” Divka said.

Rahma Andiansyah, one of the photography competition participants admitted that he is glad to participate in that event. He hoped for this event to be held again next year.
