The importance of conveying experience and knowledge from the experts is the most valuable matter for students. Therefore, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted a ‘Webinar-Sharing Alumni’ to support students in making the next step.

The event which was initiated by the Udinus Career Center invited three alumni of Udinus as speakers. Three of them had successfully undergone their respective careers which allowed them to share various materials that can be useful for all students.

Andika Dwi Prasetyo, S.Kom, M.M, as the first speaker, persuaded the young generation to always improve their soft skill in the current modern era. Including discipline, responsibility, dexterity, and problem-solving ability.

“Other than that, there is also hard skill namely financial skill, digital skill, technical skill, data analytic, and many more,” explained Andika, the Head of AML CTT and Compliance Risk Department, “Despite the educational differences that students have, all of them can have the same advantage which is the era of data access and conveniently reachable information. So, take the opportunity by always upgrading our skills.”

Afterward, the second material regarding the guidance of entrepreneurship by Yoga Sugama, S.T., Udinus’ graduate that is currently becoming an entrepreneur in various businesses such as culinary, farm, livestock, and even fishery. During his session, he explained that there are 5 basic things of preparation. First, be aware of nearby problems.

“We need to pay attention to our surrounding problems instead of looking far ahead. Second, it is crucial to understand the person facing the problem firsthand, as they could become our target market. Third, start to come up the solution in a form of goods and services. Fourth, the market’s potential. Fifth, don’t forget to determine the external factors as well,” said Yoga.

He also added some tips and tricks when starting a business by showing market landscapes such as the emphasis on differentiating from competitors as well as the tutorial on how to sell which includes pricing and channel sales.

“Besides that, we can create customer’s loyalty by providing them a good service as well as compliments like bonus or discount,” stated Yoga.

The last speaker, Embun Savana S.M. M.M., from the HCGA EdTech Start-Up encouraged all students not to focus on the degree when continuing study, but focus on taking the knowledge instead to do self-improvement.

Through that webinar event, Dr. Sendi Novianto S.Kom., MT., the Head of the Career Center at Udinus expressed his hope toward students, regarding the knowledge and experience shared by the alumni to educate students.

“We are hoping that the students are able to find new points that can serve as a stepping-stone in preparing a better future for them,” said Dr Sendi.
