FEATURING A SPEAKER FROM THE CORRUPTION ERADICATION COMMISSION (CEC), UDINUS’ STUDENTS LEARN TO BECOME AGENTS OF ANTI-CORRUPTION

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) encourages its students to participate in preventing corruption. The invitation event was organized in the form of a public lecture, emphasizing the theme of ‘Developing student’s integrity to prevent corruption,’ and it was held on Thursday, September 14th, 2023.

The public lecture brought Luthfi Ghana Sukardi, Ak. M.Com. He is the Head of the Management and Monitoring & Evaluation Task Force of CEC’s Directorate of Anti-Corruption Education and Training. The material that he discussed was related to the meaning of corruption as well as how to nurture student’s integrity in order to prevent the impact of ‘massive’ corruption. massive korupsi.

He said that there are various types of corruption that need to be aware of from the first day so that students wouldn’t fall into the same hole. Such as bribing, embezzlement of goods, cheating, power abuse, and even gratification. 

“While gratification is often seen as small and underestimated, its impact can be more significant than other deviant behaviors. Gratification has the potential to disrupt established systems and even lead to service discrimination,” added Luthfi.

Moreover, Luthfi also emphasized tangible actions that can be performed by students to prevent activity that has a high potential for corruption. Those actions are socializing anti-corruption around campus, living with honesty, and besides that, he also mentioned 9 integrity values that people should have. 

In addition, students can also participate in campus organizations with transparency and professionalism. Moreover, students should do their homework without copying and away from cheating during exams. 

“Students have to apply nine integrity values in their mind. Which consist of honesty, independence, bravery, responsibility, simplicity, caring, discipline, fairness, and hard work,” said Luthfi.

The event was attended by 600 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Udinus, utilizing a hybrid format that combined both online and offline participation. It took place on the sixth floor of Udinus' I Building. The Dean of FEB, Prof. Vincent Didiek Wiet Aryanto MBA, Ph.D., expressed his hope that this event can inspire students to uphold honesty in all aspects of life, anywhere and anytime.
