A professor in the Economics and Business Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), Prof. Dr. ST. Dwiarso Utomo, S.E., M.Kom., Akt., CA, gave an instructing session to the new students. On that occasion, the freshmen were asked to engage in student activities to grow their independence.

The session was held in the Mangga Dua court on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Udinus Semarang. In his presentation, Prof Dwiarso emphasized that the college students’ scope was entirely different than that of high schoolers, both in activeness and independence.

“As high school students, they were constantly instructed by teachers. However, now that they have become college students, they will be pushed to gather more information surrounding our campus,” he emphasized.

The freshmen were also encouraged to participate in various student activities, considering the abundant activities they could be involved in. By participating in organizations, the newly enrolled students could learn various things including leadership and organizational skills.

“We tend to focus on hard skills while in classrooms; whereas soft skills could usually be salvaged in student organizations. Hopefully, the new students could balance both soft skills and hard skills accordingly prior to walking on the professional career path,” he explained.

The event was followed by the second presentation conducted by Arsitomo, S.Pi, M.M., the Head of Administration at Udinus. He presented a learning material regarding the introduction of education services on the campus to support the students’ administrative needs.

“Udinus has several educational services including the Student Affair Bureau (Bima), the Academic Bureau (Biak), the Financial Bureau (Biku), and the General Bureau (Bium). You could gain further information regarding every academic administrative activity, so do not be hesitant to ask,” he uttered.

Arsitomo said that gathering information quickly and reliably was among the keys to success. Additionally, he also welcomed all new students in the Economics and Business Faculty. “You have essentially made the right choice to enroll here in the Economics and Business Faculty at Udinus. This is because our faculties, study programs, and the university have been accredited as ‘Superior,’” Arsitomo concluded.

The Faculty of Economics and Business at Udinus possesses two superior accredited undergraduate programs such as Accounting and Management. In addition to that, this faculty also has the Postgraduate Management Program and the Doctoral Management Program, both accredited as ‘Superior’ and ‘Very Good’ respectively. (Humas Udinus/Ika.
