The ‘Rumah Sahabat’ unit at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) was committed to realizing a drug-free campaign for the young generation. This campaign was embodied in the form of a Student Organization Coaching Program (PPKO) in Sekayu.
The program aimed to educate housewives regarding children's and teenagers' reproductive health. The leader of the Student Organization Coaching Program Team of the ‘Rumah Sahabat’ unit, Yulian Zhafirah Aji Saputri, explained that this program might maximize their role in supervising its children.
“At the ‘Kampus Bunda’ program, we reached out to the parents beforehand, particularly the mothers. They would be able to resolve these problems if they gained the expected perspective,” she explained.
She also added that the team conducted the program in Sekayu as there were a few devastating cases. Those cases were five drug cases and three undesired pregnancy cases in 2022 alone.
“We obtained the data from a survey conducted by the Health Science Faculty at Udinus. This situation is truly concerning. In response to those problems, we conducted our program here in Sekayu. Moreover, Sekayu is located not too far from our campus; thus, we can take this action to the nearby area first,” she added.
The ‘Rumah Sahabat’ unit educated all 50 participants regarding Drugs, HIV, and reproductive health. Furthermore, the unit also gave life skill training encompassing a cooking class in collaboration with the Hotel Management Student Association (HMPP) and digital business.
That series of events has been running since July 2023. On September 29, 2023, the agreement of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) partnership between Sekayu Officials and Udinus finally took place with Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., the Head of Student Affairs Bureau, as the representative of Udinus.
“Through this activity, students would be able to implement their knowledge in various communities,” he uttered.
Representing the local community of Sekayu, Dwi Ratna Nugraini, S.E., the district secretary, expressed her gratitude toward the program initiated by students. She stated that the ‘Kampus Bunda’ program might help in educating housewives within Sekayu.
