HAVING BEEN ACCOMPLISHED, 47 FILMS CREATED BY STUDENTS OF THE ANIMATION DEPARTMENT WERE PURCHASED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

Through its globally acclaimed achievements, the Department of Animation at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) successfully claimed various appreciations. Not one, not two, but 47 films created by the students of this department had successfully undergone acquisition under Indonesiana TV, a channel under the direct supervision of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

Those 47 films vary in duration, ranging from one minute to seven minutes. Furthermore, the animation films created by this department also come in three different media, including 2D, 3D, and motion, which will occasionally be played on the Indonesiana TV channel. Three of those are entitled Forlornless, Ulat-Ulet, and Flame & Arrow.

The Head of the Animation Department, Dr. Khafiizh Hastuti, S.Kom., M.Kom., claimed to be proud of these films for being finally publicly available. Not only are these movies phenomenal in terms of visuals, but they are also remarkable when it comes to the writing. Additionally, every animation show created by this department has moral values to instill in our children.

“It is indeed beautiful for our animated films to be acknowledged by media platforms in this country. We always educate our students to explore their abilities and talents to the next level. This is evident from their extraordinary works,” she explained.

Prior to this, an agreement of partnership was tied and signed by Dr. Abdul Syukur, M.Kom, the Dean of the Computer Science Faculty, and Neneng Kartiwi, S.S., a representative of the Directorate General of Culture, the Hall of Cultural Media.

On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom, the Chancellor of Udinus, expressed his pride to every faculty member and student within the Animation Department for developing those 47 animated movies acquired by the Ministry of Education. It was truly an amazement for students to produce films with high quality.

“We will always push them to keep producing exceptional works by providing them facilities, such as supercomputers to create animated shows,” he concluded.

Has currently acquired a high-quality PC Render

To sustain the need for animation production, The Department of Animation has successfully received funding for Personal Computer (PC). The PC is currently utilized to conduct render farm, film production, and Intellectual Property development including games, comics, digital stickers, and merchandise. In addition, the Department also obtained an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and a Server Rack Unit through the funding. That Rp. 2 billion funding was gathered through the 2023 Matching Fund Kedaireka.

“Hopefully, the funding and the render farm PC could serve as a facility for them to keep improving and coming up with new masterpieces,” Khafiz added.

It is important to note that the Matching Fund Kedaireka was gathered to facilitate the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which currently ties partnerships with universities. The matching fund also served as concrete proof of the support given by the Ministry of Education and Culture to create collaborations and strategic synergies between Insan Dikti and the industry.
