Basketball athletes from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) successfully won two achievements in a competition at the provincial stage. The achievement was obtained on the 23rd of the Student and Cadet Sports & Arts Week (Porsimaptar) 2023, a while ago.

The competition which was initiated by the Police Academy at Central Java gathered several universities across Central Java Province. Owing to the event, the Student Activity Unit of Basketball at Udinus participated as well by involving some of its best teams. Hence, Udinus took two trophies which consist of the first position in the men’s basketball category and first place award for the women’s basketball category.

On behalf of all Udinus’ Basketball Athletes, Bima Dafa Rizkya Kartika as the leader of the basketball unit, extended his gratitude for the support given by all of the academic community at Udinus. He was also proud that his units won two attainments at once in a single competition. He revealed that the teams had undergone proper training and preparation beforehand.

"To be honest, I’m quite satisfied with the recent achievements, our next goal is to participate in the Student League (Lima) championship, which is planned to be held in Yogyakarta in the near future. To achieve this, we will continue to maintain our preparation efforts," he explained.

Meanwhile, one of the men's basketball team players and MVP winner, Javier Nathaniel Binsar Marpaung said that he and his teammates were not only preparing for the physical training, but they also trained their gameplay skills and mentality.

"We practice approximately 10 times a week, you could say our training is quite hard to prepare for the events that are ahead of us because the target we aim for is very challenging," said the student of Udinus Information Systems S-1 Study Program.

For the women's basketball team, the MVP was achieved by a student of Udinus Communication Science Study Program, Yedida Putri Anugrah Waryanto. This achievement is clear proof of the toughness of Udinus basketball athletes during the Sports Week event. The game took place at the Gymnasium of the Police Academy (Akpol) in Gajahmungkur, Semarang City and it went smoothly and vibrant.

Whereas, Dr. Rindra Yusianto S.Kom., M.T., Udinus' Head of Student Affairs Bureau (Bima), said he was proud of the student's achievements at the provincial level. He hopes that these achievements can be a motivation for other students to continue to excel at both national and international stages.

"I hereby congratulate to the Basketball unit for achieving ‘double winner’ title, which is a source of great pride for Udinus. These achievements also show that the Udinus Basketball Unit is able to triumph in various championships. We hope that our athletes will continue to give their best," he concluded.
