Students Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) tirelessly earned achievements at national competitions. Momentarily, a group of students from the Animation Department won first place at a contest named ‘Lo Kreatif,’ last November.

The contest, hosted by the Indonesian Private University Association VII of East Java, was participated by more than 3000 teams from 93 different universities in Indonesia. With ‘Building Synergies, Creativity, and Innovation in Independent Learning,’ the contest took place in Surabaya on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023.

At the event, students from the Department of Animation at Udinus successfully claimed first place with their animated short entitled ‘Kitty Bath.’ The short was produced by a team consisting of five students, namely, Robertus Angelo Irawan, Diajeng Lintang Sukmaningtyas, Eunike Christina Hadiwinoto, Mafazal Millah, and Naufal Zhorif Aryawan.

One of the team members, Diajeng Lintang Sukmaningtyas, explained that the development process of the two-minute short spanned three months, encompassing pre-production, production, and post-production, with every team member contributing their expertise.

“We worked on the project using our personal devices under the instruction given by faculty members. This short bears a theme aimed at everyone with hidden moral values in it,” she detailed.

“For the time being, we will aim to improve our skills to new heights. Also, we cannot thank the campus enough for shaping us into students with industrial experience,” Diajeng added.

Seeing her students become accomplished, Dr. Khafiizh Hastuti., M.Kom, the Head of the Animation Department, expressed her utmost pride, as their victory at the ‘Lo Kreatif’ contest could ultimately serve as a testament to the great support provided by the department.

“We could not help but beamed with delight as their dedication finally came to fruition. Hopefully, this accomplishment could serve as a stepping stone for our students to participate in other prestigious contests,” Khafiizh concluded.

In addition, a team consisting of students from the Visual Communication Design at Udinus Kediri also claimed second place in the same contest. The contest ‘Lo Kreatif 2023’ sought to provide students with innovations in developing their latent potential and creativity. Not only did it feature a contest, but the event also hosted art shows and a talk show, with art performances concluding the whole event.
