Gading Candra Pranolo – an Undergraduate Student in the Communication Science Program at Udinus
Organizations play a very important role in supporting skills, which is what Gading Candra Pranolo believes. The student of the Undergraduate of Communication Science (Ilkom) Program at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) managed to get a positive experience that could not be obtained in the lecture class.
A student who is familiarly called 'Gading' already had an interest in participating in the organization since junior high school. When he decided to study at university, he determined to focus on the legislative branch. Therefore, he joined the DPM-FIK or Student Representative Council of Computer Science Faculty.
Gading shared a lot of valuable experience that he gained while being an activist in the DPM organization. In fact, these experiences change his life in a better direction.
"The most valuable experience was when I was chosen to be the head of the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPKO) which consists of 14 members of the DPM of the Faculty of Communication Science team as well as accompanying lecturers. My life changed because of the experience that I obtained from the organization.
Through the event, he managed to enter the top of the 2023 Abdidaya Ormawa Award. Together with his team, Ivory was able to bring home a victory medal in the second-best categories of Team with Innovative Work Management.
Additionally, Gading stated that organization is the right place to develop ourselves. Gading who was born in Semarang in 2002, also began to pursue the Master of Ceremony (MC) field when he was actively participating in the organization.
"My experience as an MC was when I first joined the DPM FIK Udinus by being a host at one of the activities that we handled. Since then, I was assigned to be an MC in almost every activity held by the organization," said the student, who loves cycling.
Diving Into the World of Public Speaking
As time passed, his ability to speak publicly as an MC continued to grow until he was glanced at by one of the Udinus lecturers. Since then, he has increasingly trusted to host official activities from the campus, starting from Udinus communication science events with the Semarang City Health Office.
“From there my experience in the field of MC grew. Over time, through the support from lecturers and organizational coaches, I became an MC at several major Udinus' events," he continued.
Such as Dinus Inside Faculty of Computer Science 2023, Welcoming Student Exchange (PMM) Batch 3, Entrepreneur HUB 2023, Expo and WMK Udinus Demo Day, FIK FAIR 2024, and the Regional Student Art Week 2024. He was also a moderator for the 2024 candidate Debate, the 2024 Udinus Presidential Debate, and the 2024 Legislative Executive Union (LEU). Not only on campus, Gading also gained a lot more experiences outside the campus environment.
"I have been pursuing the MC world since the second semester (2022), this interest appeared because of my public speaking lecturer, Mrs. Naiza Rosalia. I see how talking or communicating with others can give a smile from others and I am interested in it, "he explained.
Application of Knowledge from Campus
According to him, by studying at Ilkom Udinus there is a lot of knowledge gained to build self-confidence. Understand the theories of public speaking that are very useful in the field he is pursuing.
"The thing that I remember the most is not to be afraid of speaking wrongly, there is no need to think about what has been said. Because it's just a glance and other people won't remember it until tomorrow or next week, and it won't be brought up either, "added Pira, who won the best presenter award in the PPKO category at the FIK Awards Udinus 2023.
Gading who is also a part of the ‘Soto Simpang‘ digital marketing team, hopes that in the future he can further maximize his full potential. In line with the motto of life, namely, ‘pray and try, so that you can be useful for yourself, family, and others'.
“A message for Udinus student friends, keep your spirits up. Have the right motivation in life. Create a positive environment and always remember that we are the main actors in our own lives.
