The Doctoral Computer Science Department in the Computer Science Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again graduates a student, namely, Dr. Fahmy Ferdian Dalimarta, marking the twelfth graduate in the year 2024. In his dissertation entitled ‘An Identification of Motoric Impulsivity on Children Videos Based on the Body Estimator Synthesis with Bi_LSTM,’ Dr. Fahmy offers an innovative solution to early-detect Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children.

At the open defense session taking place in the conference room on the first floor of the H building at Udinus, Dr. Fahmy successfully defended his dissertation before all the examiners, including Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom., (the Vice Chancellor IV of Research and Partnership Affairs at Udinus). With this accomplishment, Udinus once again shows its capability in the field of technology, which has already been proven by its ‘Very Good’ accreditation.

Dr. Fahmy explained that his research focused on the development of motoric impulsivity detection as an early sign of ADHD. “This disorder is often undetectable in children, who usually show impulsive and hyperactive behaviors. The method I developed can provide detailed data to detect whether or not the child suffers from ADHD,” he explained.

Not only is this research innovative, but it is also applicable. Dr. Fahmi further planned for the development to be applied in the form of an app integrated with CCTV at schools. This method is expected to conduct an early detection of ADHD in children, allowing an early intervention to be done more quickly and effectively.

Purwanto, S.Si., M.Kom., Ph.D., the Head of the Doctoral Computer Science Department at Udinus, expressed his gratitude toward the accomplishment earned by Dr. Fahmy. “This success proves the quality of our education quality. Several of our students were even able to publish international articles in Scopus Q1-indexed journals,” Purwanto uttered.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., the Chancellor of Udinus, was also present at the open session, showing his utmost appreciation to Dr. Fahmy. “We are proud to be able to guide doctoral students to pursue their degrees. Through the Doctoral Computer Science Department, we are committed to providing education to produce more competent workforces in the field of technology,” the chancellor emphasized.

With the graduation of Dr. Fahmy, the Doctoral Computer Science Department at Udinus once again shows a good example of not only a good academician but also a figure contributing to the public, particularly within the education and medical sector. This figure in particular is none other than Dr. Fahmy Dalimarta, who provides a technological innovation to resolve various medical issues, including early detection of ADHD in children.
