Initially started as a hobby inherited from her grandfather, Arista Perdana Putri Darmoyo has accumulated numerous accomplishments as a professional shooting athlete. Arista, a Communication Science Student at Universitas Dian Nuswnatoro (Udinus), began her training as soon as she was an eighth-grader.
“The support from my parents and grandfather, who was also a shooting coach, motivates me to be an athlete. Coincidentally, since I was a child, I have taken an interest in shooting in general. Thus, I turned this hobby into something positive,” Arista, also known as Tata, uttered.
According to Tata, shooting pushed her to hone her concentration, focus, and physical strength. On top of that, shooting also allows her to be more disciplined, and patient, and shape a positive mindset.
“Focus is also important to a shooter, as a shooter cannot shoot rashly, they must first pay attention to the targets and their weapons. I always uphold both of these aspects whenever I compete,” she explained.
Arista’s Accomplishments
‘You can’t win the game if you are losing your mind,’ was the sentiment upheld by Tata as a shooting athlete. Shooting is a sport heavily reliant on skills, including accuracy and speed, as well as proficiency in using various kinds of weapons, such as firearms and air guns.
Recently, Tata, born in Semarang on April 5th, 2005, has attained a magnificent feat at the 2024 National Sports Week XXI of Aceh-North Sumatera. She managed to earn a gold medal in the Women’s 10M Air Pistol Category and a bronze medal in the Mixed Team 10M Air Pistol Category.
Tata, a student of the 2024 class, revealed that her preparations took six to twelve months. These preparations included physical and mental training, as well as perfecting her shooting techniques. Tata stated that she struggled with problems coming deep within herself, namely negative thoughts.
“I often fight these thoughts by resting myself and taking a long breath to keep me relaxed, as well as closing my eyes, evaluating myself, and keeping my positive mindset intact,” she continued.
Prior to this, Tata had already earned numerous accomplishments, both on national and international levels. These accomplishments consisted of first place in the 2021 International Kazakhstan Asian Airgun Championship of the Women’s Youth 10M Air Pistol Category, second place in the Mixed Team 10M Air Pistol Category at the 2022 International ISSF Grand Prix Pistol, and first place in the Women’s Team 10M Air Pistol Category at the 2023 Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup.
