Ever since he was in elementary school, Ahmad Hafid, a Management Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), has been pursuing his dream as a wall-climbing athlete. This made Hafid to accomplish much on the international level.

The accomplishments he had accomplished included first place at the 2023 National Climbing Competition in the single lead category, second place at the 2023 National Sports Week of South Kalimantan in the men’s boulder category, second place at the 21st AUG Surabaya 2024.

Recently, Hafid has also won second place at the 2024 National Sports Week of Aceh-North Sumatera in the men’s boulder category. At the event, he managed to claim victories over hundreds of other athletes.

Hafid, born in Blora in 2004, claimed that he had been preparing for the 2024 National Sports Week for two years before. His ambition and motivation were enormous to earn a medal at the prestigious event.

“I want to prove it to everyone that I’m capable of achieving medals,” he revealed.

Kind of Sports that Drives One’s Adrenaline

According to Hafid, wall climbing was among the most unique kinds of sports. Not only does it push his adrenaline, but wall climbing also makes him feel challenged, which attracts him to pursue this sports branch even further. Hafid is also a part of the Aldakawanaseta Unit at Udinus. Additionally, he revealed that it cost a lot to pursue his career as a wall-climbing athlete.

“It takes durability, agility, discipline, and consistency to be a wall-climbing athlete,” he explained.

Despite that, Hafid still faced numerous predicaments, including his lack of motivation during training and feeling of ennui.

“To overcome these problems, I often recall my struggle when I couldn’t do anything and being mocked by others. I have a dream to be a wall-climbing athlete from Indonesia competing in the Olympics. I also strive to make my parents proud,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
