A partnership was officially established between Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) and Padma Hotels Indonesia for the next five years. The agreement of the partnership was conducted by the Hotel Department at Udinus on the sixth floor of the I building, on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.
On that occasion, both parties signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) . Udinus was represented by Dr. Raden Arief Nugroho, S.S., M.Hum., the Dean of the Humanities Faculty at Udinus. Meanwhile, Padma Hotels Indonesia was represented by Suryaningrat Wirawanto, a Corporate Training Manager. On that occasion, there was also a public lecture featuring practitioners. It was attended by 68 hotel management students from both the third and fifth semesters.
Dr. Raden Arief Nugroho, the Dean of the Humanities Faculty at Udinus, revealed that the partnership served as a continuation of a previously established collaboration that had been run for three years. The collaboration was in the form of an internship program, in which Udinus would send 15 students to Padma Hotels Indonesian to work there as interns.
“From what we gathered from the surveys involving our students, the interns claimed that they have got meaningful experience working there. From this experience, some of them even went to work overseas,” he explained.
On the same occasion, the Internship Coordinator of the Hotel Management Department at Udinus also added that students were obliged to participate in internship programs at least twice. He revealed that the partnership with Padma Hotels Indonesia was embodied in the form of a Field Work Practice, which would later be converted to 20 credit hours.
“For this partnership, the program will be located in Bali and Jakarta, with higher international standards. Before working there, students must also undergo a competitive selection process from both the hotels and the Hotel Management Department at Udinus,” he added.
The Importance of Education
Following the agreement, the public lecture commenced, featuring Suryaningrat Wirawanto, a Corporate Training Manager at Padma Hotels, and Maemona Akhlisa, the Training Coordinator at Padma Hotel Semarang.
During his presentation, Suryaningrat emphasized that short-term goals were just as important as short-term ones. As college students, their short-term goal would be to finish their studies.
“Pendidikan sangat penting sebagai modal kalian bersaing di industri apa pun termasuk di perhotelan. Posisi apa yang akan kalian pilih di masa depan sudah harus digambarkan sejak sekarang, karena sebagai motivasi untuk menggapai posisi itu,” tegasnya. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
