Four faculty members at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) attained intellectual rights certificates from the Ministry of Law of the Central Java Branch. The certificates were given for their innovations in the industrial design field. The patents have officially been registered and handed in at an event known as the Dissemination of Industrial Design Intellectual Rights for Higher Education on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The certificates were earned by two faculty members, including Sari Ayu Wulandari, S.T., M.Eng., for her innovation in the form of a peripheral for a digital diaphragm stethoscope. Meanwhile Ir. Amalia, M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., was also awarded the certificate for her invention in the form of a contraption to chop and wash soybeans. Both of them earned the industrial design certificates.
Meanwhile, the patent certificates were given to Dita Ayu Mayasari, S.T., M.Biotech, for her closet setriator invention, and Prof. Kusmiyati, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., for her solar-based spinning drying system.
The certificates were directly handed by Heni Susila Wardoyo, S.H., M.H., the Chief of the Ministry of Law of Central Java branch. The process was also witnessed by Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., the Vice Rector I of the Academic Sector at Udinus, and other faculty members.
The dissemination took place in the theater auditorium located on the sixth floor of the I building at Udinus. It was hosted by the Ministry of Law of the Central Java branch and the Quality Assurance Agency at Udinus (LPPM). On that occasion, Prof. Dr, Muljono, S.Si., M.Kom., the Head of the Quality Assurance Agency at Udinus (LPPM), was also present.

During the interview, Heni Susila Wardoyo expressed his appreciation to Udinus for its contributions to signing the intellectual rights. Heni revealed that the dissemination was hosted to inform the audience that the design industry had legal protection and economic value.
“By signing the patents, the rights for industrial design will be protected by the government, so that it will not be able to be used by unauthorized parties,” Heni uttered.
Heni also added that the public within Central Java became more aware of intellectual rights. This can be seen by the rise of patent requests reached 130%, which is more than in previous years.
“The majority of these requests come from universities, like Udinus for example, which is also among campuses with the most requests for industrial design intellectual rights. Hopefully, Udinus and other universities in Central Java can serve as good examples for institutions from other regions in Indonesia to process their intellectual rights,” he explained.
Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., also voiced his opinion in response to the Dissemination of Industrial Design Intellectual Rights for Higher Education.. According to him, the program was heavily relevant for universities.
He continued that Udinus’ contribution to the Intellectual Rights Sector was significantly growing, as well as the campus’ research reputation in the eyes of the Higher Education Service Institute. Moreover, Prof. Supriadi also congratulated those four lecturers from Udinus for finally getting their intellectual rights certificates.
“The field of industrial design is still relatively new among the public, so this collaboration is important to introduce to our faculty members and students, as well as to protect their innovations. Our campus will always push our faculty members and students to patent their innovations, which can potentially be industrial designs,” he concluded.

Additionally, at the dissemination, the audience also listened to a lecture delivered by two speakers. These speakers were Andy Mardani, S.Sn., M.I.Kom.—from the Audit Division for Industrial Design from the Intellectual Rights General Directorate—and Dr. Tri Junianto, from the Indonesian Ministry of Law.
