Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again stole a spotlight in the realm of medical technology. Recently, the Association of Medical Device and Laboratory Companies (Gakeslab) of the Central Java branch visited Udinus. The representatives reviewed various laboratories and innovative products developed by The Engineering Faculty at Udinus on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

The visit was a continuation of a collaboration between Udinus and the Gakeslab, after a training program months ago. Several labs were visited by the representatives from the Gakeslab, including the radiology lab.

On that occasion, they were guided by a lecturer from the Biomedical Engineering Department at Udinus, Wisnu Adi Prasetyanto, S.T., M.Eng. They saw the lab facilities offered by the Engineering Faculty at Udinus, as well as several other products made by students and faculty members.

“They were deeply invested in our products, and they were even committed to downstream the products. Despite not being commercialized yet, they still wanted to help us in publicizing our innovations,” he added.

The Gakeslab also gave their appreciation to innovations made by the Biomedical Engineering Department at Udinus. They stated that the research conducted by the department had the potential to be further developed.

“They noticed several of our innovations, including the digital radiology and Menavier. According to them, both of them had excellent prospects, and could be further developed,” he uttered.

In addition to supporting the downstream of these products, the Gakeslab would also plan to contribute to the development of knowledge among Udinus students. They offered to be featured as speakers in various public lectures and workshops for students.

Moreover, the Gakeslab also encouraged Udinus to tie a partnership in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Through this partnership, Udinus would receive access to information and invitations to various events held by the Gakeslab.

“This includes the Gakeslab Expo in Jakarta in the upcoming August. We are committed to establishing a link and match relationship between the academic and industrial realms, particularly in the health sector,” he uttered.

Appreciation Toward Udinus’ Innovation

Wisnu also emphasized that biomedical innovations had their own challenges, particularly in terms of marketing. He explained that before being marketed, a product must undergo certain phases, including mass production and strict licensing.

“We as academicians can only handle the research phase. For the products to be marketed, we need to partner with licensed producers and distributors. This is where the Gakeslab plays its role,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Agus Sedijarto, the Chief of GoIndo, expressed his appreciation to Udinus for warmly welcoming them. Upon seeing the innovations made by students and faculty members of the Engineering Faculty, they also expressed their pride and praised the innovations.

“We wholeheartedly appreciate the creativity of innovations developed by students and faculty members at Udinus. These innovations show that Udinus holds a high commitment to creating beneficial solutions for the industry and general public,” Agus uttered. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
