The Holy Month of Ramadan was a perfect momentum to spread joy and benevolence toward each other. This exact momentum was used by the Communication Science Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) to host a social service, which was recently conducted at Rumah Tahfidz Salsabil Orphanage. 

The event itself involved the Alumni Association at Udinus and TVKU. It was done by giving the orphanage some groceries and funds. The donation was given to the orphans of the Rumah Tahfidz Salsabil Orphanage, which was located at Jl. Progo, Mlatibaru Sub-district.

Dr. Lisa Mardiana, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., the Head of the Communication Science Department at Udinus, mentioned that the event was a routine agenda conducted by the department during the Holy Month of Ramadan. However, this year specifically, the social service centered more around collaboration.

“This social service is indeed an annual agenda in our department, this year is the first time we collaborated with the Alumni Association and TVKU. Hopefully, this agenda can go on for the years to come,” she uttered.

Furthermore, Lisa stated that the event was important to grow empathy among faculty members. According to her, education did not only emphasize cognitive aspects but also emotional and altruistic aspects as well, particularly the idea of ‘sharing is caring.’

“Hopefully, this event can bring benevolence and grace to everyone. We also hope that everyone involved in this social service will also receive blessings in return. We would also expect the same thing from the children of this orphanage. Wishfully, they will also be granted health and success,” she uttered.

Dr. Hery Pamungkas, S.S., M.I.Kom., the Operational Director of TVKU and the Chief of the Alumni Association, expressed his gratitude to the Communication Science Department for participating in this particular social service. In addition, he was also delighted to directly meet the orphans. 

According to him, this social service served as a motivation for the orphans as a reminder that they were not alone, and many people cared about them. “With our involvement, the children were seen happier. In this particular holy month, let us do good deeds and garner much more benevolence from Allah,” he said.

The Joy Among the Orphans

The social service conducted by Udinus was warmly welcomed by the orphans and caretakers of the Rumah Tahfidz Salsabil Orphanage. The expressions of joy and enthusiasm were cast on their face. A warm atmosphere also enveloped the orphanage on that faithful day.

A caretaker of the Orphanage, Ustad Aziz, expressed his joy and gratitude to Udinus for their help and assistance. He said that the orphanage was helped with the social service.
