The Engineering Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) successfully achieved its recent accomplishments from the International Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). Recently, the Electrical Engineering Department and the Biomedical Engineering Department were granted the ‘Accredited’ status, marking all three departments in the Engineering Faculty as possessing international quality.

The accreditation was based on the certificates issued by the Chair of the Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Romli, M.Sc.St., IPU., APEC., Eng. The certificates were issued on March 31, 2025, in Jakarta, and they serve as a new commitment from Udinus to providing world-class education to students.

The certificate No. 000190. A was earned by the Biomedical Engineering Department in the field of Biomedical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs in 2025. While the certificate No. 000206. A was earned by the Electrical Engineering Department in the field of Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication and Similarly Named Engineering Programs in 2025.

The Dean of the Engineering Faculty at Udinus, Ir. Heru Agus Santoso, Ph.D., stated that this accomplishment was a testament to the commitment shown by the faculty to pushing all study programs within their reach to attain international recognition.

“With this IABEE accreditation, we are determined to get our students to be graduates with international standards and qualifications, so they can compete professionally in international circles,” he revealed.

Furthermore, he explained that the learning systems in the Engineering Faculty would point to the learning outcomes. The main goal is to conduct a sustainable repair in the processes of education.

“Graduates from the departments at the Engineering Faculty of Udinus would get many benefits from this accreditation. For example, they will get internationally-standardized education, as well as trust from the industry for their competence,” he explained.

Producing Internationally-Competent Graduates

As additional information, the IABEE is an accreditation agency in Indonesia that has been recognized by the government per the decree from the Ministry of Higher Education no. 83/P/2020, and now is currently a member of the Washington Accord (WA) with the status of ‘Provisional Signatory.’ This independent agency aimed to improve the quality of higher education management in computing engineering.

In response to this achievement, the Rector of Udinus, Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom., also congratulated both the Electrical Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Departments. He hoped for the accomplishments to motivate other faculties to keep improving their education qualities.
