Martial Artists from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again attained a remarkable feat. Recently, they had earned fifteen medals, as well as the Grand Champion title at the Wisanggeni Tegal Championship (WTC) 2, which was held from May 9 to 11, 2025.

The national championship was hosted at the Wisanggeni Sports Building, Tegal, Central Java. It was held by the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association of Tegal City. The event was participated in by 614 athletes from Surakarta, Yogyakarta, and Brebes.

The Chief of the the Pencak Silat Community at Udinus, Ira Merliana, mentioned that the championship aimed to garner young, talented martial artists, preserve the roots of Indonesian martial arts, as well as keep the existence of Indonesian martial arts within the public space. In addition, Ira also expressed her pride in the groundbreaking accomplishments attained by athletes.

“The attainment of these 15 medals and the Grand Champion title was a fruit of our dedication, passion, and hard work from the whole team. I am also grateful and proud of myself for getting the best Women’s Martial Arts title in the championship,” she revealed.

Ira highlighted that the athletes had intensively trained their bodies, techniques, and strategies, as well as their mentality. The athletes had also maintained their bodies and physical activities. They had also analyzed their rivals’ abilities to give their best performances.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector III of Student Affairs at Udinus, Prof. Dr. Dra. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., also expressed her appreciation for the athletes’ breathtaking achievements. These medals serve as tangible proof that students at Udinus are able to compete on a national level, as well as show that national culture can be preserved competitively.

“We will always support the Pencak Silat Community at Udinus to improve their feats to the international level. This support is a form of commitment from our campus in awakening the potential of these athletes who can make a name for both Udinus and Indonesia,” she concluded.

In detail, in addition to a gold medal earned by Ira Merliana in the Women’s C Adult Class, other gold medals were also secured by Dheni Febi Setiyawan—in the Men’s A Adult Class, Nurul Afidah—in the Women’s I Class, Muchammad Irfan Hazbulloh—in the H Men’s Class, and Rahmat Suci Setyanto—in the Men’s B Adult Class.

Apart from that, silver medals were also earned by Faturrahman Wahyu A.— in the Men’s E Adult Class, Shofwan Zain Alwidad—in the Men’s B Adult Class, M. Yusuf Jaya Saputra—in the Men’s G Class, Indana Maulida Zulfatin Ni’mah—in the Single Adult Art Category.

Meanwhile, the bronze medals were attained by Angelita Suci Ramadhani—in the Women’s A Class, Jevita Sri Nurhayanti Loleh—in the Women’s B Class, Sayyidah Syarifatul Ulya—in the Women’s A Class, Rif’an Maulana in the Men’s C Class, Dino Ageng Mintoro—in the Men’s E Class, Much Naufal Nurkhaironi Muslih—in the Men’s A Class.
