Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) provided a platform for students to channel their ideas and creativity into promising business opportunities. This platform was embodied in the form of the 2025 Canvas Business Competition (CBC), which was hosted by the Information Systems Student Association (HM Sisfo) at Udinus.

The competition took place several weeks ago, with its theme being ‘Transforming Thoughts to a Profitable Enterprise’. On that occasion, students were encouraged to come up with creative yet impactful solutions in the form of potential and innovative business ideas. This was done under the agenda that the Department of Information Systems is inclined to turn youths into future entrepreneurs.

Raymond Sebastian Sia, the Head of the 2025 CBC organizer, revealed that the enthusiasm from students was immense, as there were as many as 108 teams participating in it. The event itself was open to students from other universities, but was exclusively for students from Udinus.

“The number of participating teams shows the students’ enthusiasm in developing their creative ideas into profitable businesses. From hundreds of participating teams, we have conducted a series of selections. Eventually, the top ten businesses were chosen. At this event, they were also obliged to present their brilliant ideas before the judges,” he revealed.

Moreover, Raymond mentioned that there were three professional judges in the event, including Indra Gamayanto, S.T., MITM.—a lecturer from the Information Systems Department at Udinus with an extraordinary talent in business and information technology, and Dr. Nila Tristiant, S.E., M.Si., CSRA, a lecturer from the Economics and Business Faculty at Udinus.

“We also featured an alumnus, Hendriansyah, S.Kom., who had lots of experience in the realm of business. We involved three of these figures to ensure that every business proposal is judged with the highest standards,” he continued.

The Reflection of the Indonesian Economy

The enthusiasm and creativity from every participant were appreciated by the organizers, even the Head of the Information Systems Department at Udinus, Dr. Amiq Fahmi, M.Kom. Dr. Amiq, who was also the supervisor of HM Sisfo, expressed his pride in the finalists for showing their best business ideas and innovations.

The passion and dedication of these finalists show that the young generation is more than able to come up with creative solutions. Their creativity symbolizes the bright future of the Indonesian economy.

“This event is not merely a competition, but it is a stage for these innovative ideas to transform into something more tangible. Energy and creativity from these finalists mirror the glimmering hope of the future of the Indonesian economy. To all future young entrepreneurs, always remember that collaboration and sustainable innovation are something to be upheld,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Penulis: Ika. Editor: Haris.
