The Health Science Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again proved its worth by winning awards in various categories at the 2025 Indonesian Medical Record Competition. The accomplishment was earned by students from the Applied Undergraduate Medical Record and Health Information Department at Udinus.
There were four different categories won by Udinus at the competition, which was hosted by a private university in Surakarta. Those categories were won by students, including Yefta Pascal Firmanto—first place in the Programming category, while the first place in the Brain Competition Category was earned by Cahya Arifina Rahma, Dea Marsanda Indah Vatra, and Naysila Valentina Eka Susilo. Furthermore, a student by the name of Pand Revi Rahman won second place in the Electronic Form Design category.
Dea Marsan, one of the students from Udinus taking part in the Brain Competition, revealed that the competition was divided into several phases, including preliminary, semi-final, and final.
During the semi-final, there were nine teams passing the phase, and our team is one of them. The competition was held online, from the preliminary to the finale,” she explained.
Despite the preparation not being all that optimal, as they had their own other things to be taken care of, Dea and her team had done their best in scheduling their study time. They had conducted many virtual meetings to study and prepare for this competition by studying questions and learning materials.
"During our participation in this competition, the Medical Record and Health Information Department was very helpful in providing us with facilities to study. They had provided us with very useful learning materials. We are also given a room and means to compete, considering the competition itself is held online,” she revealed.
Innovations for Health Services
Additionally, Yefta, the winner of the Programming division, admitted that the Medical Record and Health Information Department at Udinus was also very supportive. It supported her in the form of fostering sessions and accommodation for registration fees. In the competition, Yefta managed to design a mobile app named MediConnect, which is an app used for medical recording.
“MediConnect can directly connect to clinics to simplify the registration process, as well as reduce the potential of contagious diseases. This app can also help doctors in the diagnostic process, as it can store data about the medical records of previous patients. Since this app can essentially do everything related to medical recording, it will be able to reduce time, budget, and labor constraints,” he uttered.
Moreover, Yefta, who is currently a junior student, explained that there were three different accessible features for patients, doctors, and admins. For example, patients can reserve an appointment in a clinic, and doctors can see patients’ medical records to further diagnose their diseases, allowing them to suggest actions for the patients to take. Furthermore, through this app, admins can adjust the schedule, add doctors, users, and articles.
“I hope I can further develop this app, as it could simplify health services to be more efficient and quicker. Possibly, in the future, I can see myself adding a pharmacy for the patients to get medications, as well as perfecting other features. I also aspire to add an AI to this app,” he uttered.
Kindling the Passion of Success
Not only students, but a faculty member from the Medical Record and Health Information Department at Udinus also won first place in the Successful Lecturer category. It was attained by Oki Setiono, M.Kom. Oki Setiono, M.Kom.
“These accomplishments were indeed excellent additions to our trophy cabinets. Hopefully, this can motivate other students to also achieve success,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Penulis: Ika. Editor: Haris. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
