After hosting the Regional Student Sports Week of Central Java for Junior High Students, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again facilitated high school athletes. The opening of this sports week was attended by 219 taekwondo athletes from 35 regencies and cities in Central Java. It took place at Udinus Satria Sports Center (USSC) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

The event started with a covenant between the referees and athletes, and it continued with the sound of Taiko marking the beginning of the event. Several prominent figures were present at the event, including the Vice Rector III of Student Affairs at Udinus—Prof. Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Head of the Regional Sports and Youth Service—Suci Baskoro Wati, S.S., M.Bus., and representatives from the Indonesian Regional Taekwondo Association of Central Java, including the General Secretary—General Brigade Zainul Bahar, S.H., M.Si., and the Vice Chairman, Sandi Yanuar.

During his opening speech, Prof. Kusni exclaimed that the trust given to Udinus was tangible proof of the campus’s contributions to supporting Indonesian athletes. She also said that Udinus consistently sends its students to compete in various competitions, including taekwondo.

“Hopefully, these athletes will later be able to prove their skills in the National Student Sports Week and join us at Udinus. With our commitment, we shall provide them scholarships, as this is an important means for students to secure their future,” he explained.

The winners of the sports week will be granted scholarships by Udinus, proving the campus’s commitment to supporting talented athletes on the national and international levels.

In this taekwondo tournament featuring high school students, the matches were divided into various classes from two categories, including Kyorugi and Poomsae. For the Kyorugi category, the men’s division consisted of U58kg, U55kg, and U63kg classes, while the women’s division encompassed U44kg, U49kg, and U55kg categories. There were also several divisions, including men, women, groups, and pairs.

Meanwhile, Suci Baskoro Wati, S.S., M.Bus., the Head of the Regional Sports and Youth Service, stated that the target of this tournament was to run well with zero accidents and zero protests. According to Suci, sports are generally activities that require sportsmanship.

“We, from the Regional Sports and Youth Service, hereby express our gratitude to Udinus for facilitating this sports week excellently. We shall monitor the competing athletes, so they can compete in the National Sports Week. I hope this year will be better than the previous year, or at least not worse,” Suci explained.

The monitoring will be done by the Regional Sports and Youth Service, as well as the Indonesian Regional Taekwondo Association of Central Java, to select athletes with the most potential. With excellent support and facilities, the athletes from Central Java are expected to showcase their commitment and spirit in the upcoming 2025 National Student Sports Week that will last from June 17 to 18, 2025.
