In a ceremonial handover, the fish fingerlings were presented by the Coordinator of Dinus Inside 2025, Rudi Kurniawan, S.E., M.E., and received by the Secretary of the Sukamakmur Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), Widodo, as part of the Udinus Peduli program which included releasing the fingerlings by boat in the middle of Jatibarang Reservoir on Tuesday (09/09).

The event was attended by several representatives of freshmen from six faculties, Udinus students under the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) program, as well as international participants, including four new students from Thailand, Nigeria, and Kenya, along with three Midyear Camp participants from Malaysia.

Met after the fish release, Rudi, on behalf of the entire academic community, expressed gratitude that Udinus can regularly organize fingerling releases at the Jatibarang Reservoir. He hoped the fish would grow and later benefit the local community.

“This activity reflects Udinus’ commitment to instilling environmental awareness in its new students. It has become one of the mandatory agendas carried out annually during the academic orientation program,” explained Rudi.

On the second day of Dinus Inside 2025, the entire Udinus academic community together with freshmen extended contributions to several sectors. In addition to the fish release, 3,154 mangrove seedlings were planted, and social services were provided in several locations across Semarang City.

Two freshmen from Nigeria under the Faculty of Computer Science, Musbahu Bala Ibrahim and Nura Muhammad Sani, expressed their amazement while joining the program. As it was their first experience riding a boat and going to the middle of the reservoir, they felt excited to have the opportunity to help release fingerlings and support the ecosystem in the lake.

“I think it is very good that Udinus can consistently organize this activity every year. The students were also very friendly throughout the program. I truly appreciate Udinus for inviting me to be part of this event,” said Musbah, a new Master’s student in Computer Science.

The Head of Sukamakmur Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) at Jatibarang Reservoir, Majuri, warmly welcomed Udinus’ contribution. He also expressed gratitude for the university’s concern and attention toward the reservoir area.

“On behalf of Sukamakmur, I would like to thank Udinus. Hopefully, the release of these tilapia fingerlings will bring prosperity to the local community who will benefit from it,” Majuri concluded.
