Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) had a special guest, dr. Mariatul Fadilah, MARS., Ph.D., Sp. KKLP., a representative from the Indonesian Medical Council (IMC). She was invited to give insight and hand an award to Udinus, as the campus would later establish the Medicine Faculty.
The discussion took place in the conference room on the first floor of the H building, with the opening of the Medicine Faculty as its main topic. On the same occasion, the facilities possessed by the campus were also directly reviewed. Upon giving insight, dr. Mariatul engaged herself in a discussion session with the chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., accompanied by the task force team of the Medicine Faculty.
Through this discussion, the chancellor became more optimistic in establishing the Medicine Faculty. By welcoming this visitation, the Task Force Team of the Medicine Faculty could gather more feedback, including in terms of theories, vision, mission, and several preparations for the laboratories to be directly visited.
“All this feedback is helpful for us, and we will realize it as soon as possible. As time passes, we become more committed to establishing the Medicine Faculty in accordance with the advice provided by the IMC, namely to fulfill competency standards and learning outcomes,” the chancellor uttered.
On the same occasion, a discussion session themed ‘Instructing the Establishment of the Medicine Faculty with the Indonesian Medical Council’ also took place, participated by the whole audience. This discussion ran well, and there were many questions asked during the discussion.
During her interview, dr. Mariatul explained that the current number of doctors could not sustain the medical needs in Indonesia. Moreover, she also revealed that the IMC would always oblige a college institution to fulfill particular standards if it were to establish a medical faculty. The development of the faculty had to keep up with the current era of advancements. In addition, she also emphasized that a medical faculty had to guide its students to be competent and equipped with skills, knowledge, moral values, and character.
“Similar to the curriculum, the competency must fulfill the 2023 SKDI standard, and in terms of facilities and infrastructures, the faculty members are also obliged to meet the latest competency standard and learning outcomes,” she explained.
Furthermore, dr. Mariatul also hoped for Udinus to take part in contributing to the Indonesian medical sector. Not only did the IMC prioritize quantity, but they were also committed to assisting college institutions in establishing a medical faculty in accordance with the standard.
“We aim to produce medical experts capable of working in this whole nation and resolving local problems, including diabetes and the high number of stunting scattered around Indonesia,” dr. Mariatul concluded. (Humas Udinus/ Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
