There are many aspects to be prepared by the Medicine Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro the newest faculty on campus, which was established in 2023. One of those aspects is student organization. Recently, the faculty formed the Medicine Faculty Student Executive Board, with Alya Rahmadina as its first governor.
Alya’s aim to become the governor emerged when she was a freshman during the 2023 Dinus Inside. At that time, all freshmen were introduced to student organizations, and Alya was interested in becoming a part of these organizations.
According to Alya, this was also her chance to explore to what extent she was capable. Her status as the pioneer of the organization only motivates Alya to form a strong foundation for the student executive board as a part of its history.
“With me as the first governor, I can directly contribute to building an organizational foundation that is sustainable and strong. I also want to give my fellow students a room to voice their aspirations, as their aspirations are what lead our faculty toward a new direction by enacting policies based on these aspirations,” she highlighted.
Furthermore, she uttered that by becoming a governor, Alya, born in 2004, could ensure that the aspirations and necessities of students within the Medicine Faculty could finally be heard, as well as worth fighting for.
“In addition, I would also like to challenge myself to grow as a good leader. Through my status as a governor, I can further hone my skills related to management, diplomacy, and teamwork, allowing me to be fully prepared by the time I work in the professional industry,” she uttered.
Strategies to Initiate and Manage The Medicine Faculty Student Executive Board
To manage the Student Executive Board, the nature-loving student had already planned several steps to conduct. First, Alya will first form an organizational structure, followed by visions and missions of her proposed work programs.
After that, Alya will form identities and cultures of the Student Executive Board, as well as build relations so they can effectively collaborate in various aspects. “To me, the most important step to take, at least for now, is to provide a homely atmosphere to my members. By doing so, we can be motivated to do our work programs well,” she revealed.
As the pioneer of the Medicine Faculty Student Executive Board, Alya claimed that she had previously received support from the academic community. To add things up, Alya was also supported by her fellow activists.
“I have received remarkable support from the academic community, which is fitting for me who started from absolute zero. My fellow students from other organizations of the 23/24 period also helped me establish the Student Executive Board for the Medicine Faculty, especially the President of the Student Executive Board. For the time being, I would like to succeed in our work programs,” she concluded. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Humas Udinus)
