To instill thoughtfulness toward the environment and others, the freshmen at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) were encouraged to gather groceries and decorative plants. This is an obligation every freshman of the 2024/2025 academic year must partake in.
The activity, which was a part of the pre-Dinus Inside procession, obliged students to submit both the groceries and plants within three days starting from Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. The plants are to be submitted in the parking lot of the G building at Udinus, while the groceries are gathered on the first floor of the A building.
Prof. Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs at Udinus, stated that this activity aimed to push freshmen to be more caring, not only toward one another but also toward the environment. For that reason, freshmen were also obliged to give decorative plants.
“Eventually, on the second day of Dinus Inside, all the gathered groceries and plants will be given to various places. Additionally, we will also involve freshmen to give these plants and groceries to those who need them the most,” she highlighted.
“In addition, we will also involve several freshmen and representatives from student organizations to spread mangrove seedlings, as well as fish seeds. As for the gathering of the resources needed for this activity, we have collaborated with partners to help the whole procession,” Prof. Kusni uttered.
The activity is a routine agenda every freshman must participate in, which is a part of a bigger student orientation event named Dinus Inside. At Dinus Inside, freshmen will be introduced to the campus, learning systems, and facilities they received during their studies.
“Hopefully, the 2024 Dinus Inside will run perfectly, with the learning materials and information being well-received by the freshmen. This event is a tangible step Udinus took to garner the public trust in our campus,” Prof. Kusni concluded.
